While some choose to support the idea that private companies should control these scientific activities, I firmly insist that government is the optimal one to do this.My major reason for the viewpoint is that government can provide adequate support to scientific research. As the largest organization in a country, the government holds sufficient fund and different kinds of resources, both of which are essential to scientific research. Moreover, when some scientific researches run into difficulties, government can mobilize nation-wide resources to settle the problems timely and efficiently because of its nature. ???
Another reason is that scientific research, generally, concerns the national economy and the people's livelihood, so it is irrebuttable that government ought to control the development of scientific research. Take scientific research on medical treatment for example, the lives and the health in future generations may depend on treatments that are currently experimental. If these types of research are out of government’s control, it is hard to imagine what will happen to the country in the future.??The proponents of private companies may argue that private companies with profit-driven nature can deal with the issue less costly. Indeed, private companies are of advantages in saving cost.
